ABOUT THE PLATFORM

Upstream Factory was established in 2015 out of passion for industrial design. It is based on the adaptation of original objects and equipment for factories, workshops and industrial buildings, as well as aircraft parts, machinery, vehicles and military equipment. After undergoing metamorphosis at our workshop, this unique material begins its new life as a utility or a decorative item, perfectly suited for loft-style apartments, offices, studios and residences…

The men behind this project are two friends who – with great enthusiasm and determination – seek out the treasures of a bygone era and use their creativity to make unique works, that preserve the spirit of the past. Many Upstream Factory products do not change their original purpose and are only professionally refurbished using the highest quality materials with great attention to detail.

Our offer is mainly profiled on original factory lighting available in RAW editions or in any customized finish, depending on preferences of individual customer. The next leading department is avionics – elements of aircrafts and helicopters, from which designer furniture and interior design objects are created. This collection is characterized by the highest quality materials used to produce original parts such as titanium, stainless steel or ultralight aircraft aluminum. Their uniqueness and the story of their life spent in the air, are also their great asset. This is the most individual department, where only single elements, unusual in their form and made with extraordinary precision, can be found.

The third ace at the Upstream Factory is the Old Cinema Collection – vintage cinema seats that have been thoroughly renovated and offered in any finishing variant, or were the implementation of individual artistic projects.

Our offer is largely based on current expectations of the global interior design market of the timeless functional and artistic form. We are open to cooperation with architects, interior decorators as well as all visionaries, who would like to possess something unique and extraordinary – something with a soul and a story.

BRAND MANIFESTO

There is a theory that the world was created when God pondered upon Himself when a reference point was created in a vacuum – the Observer.

When is the object created?

When the thought is born and then comes the emotion associated with a possible future materialisation?

At the moment of the creation of a physical building material, the material arranged in a specific shape by the hand of the creator?

Is it exactly at the moment when somebody used it for the very first time giving it the meaning by carrying out the final test of functionality and creating a utilitarian symbol of its time?

Or perhaps when it simply drew attention of somebody and it has got an observer?

Apparently ever the particles of light behave differently when someone is observing them. Then what happens to the object when it loses its observer? Does it cease to exist?

Indeed it seems like the object that loses its observer, loses its shape and functionality, and because the reference point is lacking, there is also no thought of the original creative power – ergo – there is no beginning.

Objects have been serving us for ages. For centuries they change their owners, a scale of usefulness and sometimes distance to the user by achieving a material social promotion and becoming an exhibit.

They could be losing something at that moment.

History holds its breath for a moment.

How many lives does an object have?

Can you give an object at least one more…another life?

What if the durability of the objects was determined by their history, the memory of the people who created them, those who used them, writing in their company their own history and finally, those who wrote the history of the world through them.

What would people without objects be like?

Why the great names from the history of the world are not accompanied by the object
without which their names, as well as the objects without owners, would be only an irrelevant collection of signs and materials?

And what if we assume that the value of the object is not determined by valuable materials, the unique hand of the creator nor the unchanged functionality, but it history?History covered in dust, almost forgotten, individual and unique as its owners, although enchanted in a multiplied, repeated form.

What if, at least a tiny part of the object, which does not represent the original and integral idea created, named and sold for a specific purpose, still has got the power enchanted in it?

What if you could add a new function to it?

New application and a new meaning?

Perhaps not only the object would receive a new life… perhaps a new owner of the history would be found.
